Turkish Airways unveils its new cabin crew uniforms

Turkish Airline in anticipation of the opening for its new Istanbul Airport has finally unveiled its new cabin crew uniforms. The uniforms are certainly one of a kind fashion as one fashion expert described them to be both “Chic and smart”.

According to Turkish Airlines, these new uniforms have been inspired by colors and shapes of Istanbul. As many of you might not know, Istanbul is the boundary between East and West. The photographer responsible for these uniforms photoshoot described this to be the “hard back to golden age of couture fashion of 1950’s.”

The uniforms were designed by a Milan based haute couturier; Ettore Billotta. They used a deep red and anthracite grey palette in addition to adding hats, gloves, dresses, bags and other accessories.

In addition to these uniforms being stylish and chic, they have been tested for rigorous trial flights in various different climates. This was all done to ensure comfort ability and their practical use for the cabin crew.

In addition to cabin crews, the new uniforms will also be distributed to cockpit crew, flying chefs and ground service staff members.

Fashion designer; Mr. Billotta behind these uniform designs, said that, “when I started to design these clothes for Turkish airline, the first thing that inspire me was Istanbul. This city has been for centuries, the hub for art and civilizations that has a rare richness of many different heritages. I was intending to bring traditional calligraphy and mosaics together in Turkish motifs.

For the launch of his new uniform designs, Turkish Airline teamed up with Miles Aldridge; a British photographer and artist. The photoshoot for these new uniforms was shot at popular and unique spots of Istanbul.

According to Aldridge he said, I was really inspired to see theses uniforms as they looked to be a hard back to the golden age of couture from the 50’s, still with a  modern contemporary twist.”
