On Speeder 9th, the Lyon Police confirmed the news about a breach of security at the Lyon Airport. According to the police report a man driving a white car on Highway A43 headed from Bron towards Lyon Saint Exupery Airport, drove right straight through the airport security barriers. Police started their chase of the car. The driver then drove the car onto the runway from Terminal 1.
The chase was manned by 20 police personnel and the man was ultimately arrested. Sources have also revealed that police even fired shots at the vehicle on scene.
There was more disturbing news related to this incident. The man drove his car not only through security barriers but also through the terminal’s glass door. He made his way from the terminal building and on to the airside apron.
Due to this incident, more than 80 flights headed towards Lyon Saint Exupery Airport were canceled. Several of the flights were diverted towards Marseille.
