McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II:-
The F4 Phantom II has been dubbed as the “World’s Leading Distributor of MiG Parts”. The reason for this title was because it destroyed so many of the MiG fighter jets in aerial combats.
Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird Impressive sped:-
The famed Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird had such high flying speed that its designer simply did not consider about placing evasive maneuvers in its design. The designers simply instructed the pilot of the aircraft that if they ever find themselves in any threatening position like missiles fired at them, they must simply accelerate and out fly the threat.
Lockheed U-2’s hard landing:-
The landing procedure of the Lockheed U-2 is so hard that the plane is paced by a chase car which is often a Camaro SS. In the car, is an assistant who talks the pilot down. Sonic 2011, nearly a dozen pilots have suffered the effects of decompression sickness. What’s more surprising is that nearly nine of them have suffered permanent brain damage.
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25 to withstand the EMP Burst:-
Back in 1970s, all the Russian MiG-25 fighter jets had their major avionics installed in vacuum tubes. This was done to make the aircraft withstand the effects of the nuclear EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) burst in case of a nuclear attack.
McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle; Perfect Kill and Flight Record:-
The F-15 Eagle has been known to have a combined kill record for air-to-air combats which is 104 official kills with 0 losses. This kill record is not the only thing that F-15 Eagle has. All of the F-15 Eagle models; (A, B, C, and D) have never been shot down by an enemy attack. In fact, back in 1983, an Israeli pilot was able to successfully land his F-15 Eagle fighter jet with only one wing intact. The pilot only realized after the landing the extent of the damage taken by the aircraft.
The F-15 Eagle also once shot down an artificial satellite.
Chuck Yeager; the first man to fly faster than the speed of sound:-
Chuck Yeager is the first man in the history of earth to have flown the aircraft faster than the speed of sound. Chuck revisited his feat back on October 14th, 2012 at the time of his 65th birthday when he flew an F-15 Eagle fighter jet and broke the barrier of sound once again. He was 89 years old at that time.
Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor; Major Flaw:-
Ever since the first F-22 Raptor flew over the International Date Line, it suffered from a massive system failure and was directed to return back to Hawaii. F-22 Raptor, which is the pride of the USAF, has a mysterious fatal flaw that results in pilot often experiencing oxygen deprivation. This flaw has never been resolved and this is the reason that this fighter jet has the most accident rate in USAF. the issue of the aircraft is so severe that two of the pilots of this aircraft are actually under ‘whistleblower protection’.
USAF declared “they didn’t want to play anymore”:-
In the past, mock dogfights were arranged between the F-22 Raptor and the Eurofighter Typhoon. During these dogfights, the Eurofighter Typhoon proved to be highly effective against the American fighter jet. After the dogfight ended, USAF declared that “they didn’t want to play anymore”.
An impressive Ploy of WWII:-
During WWII, the pilots of the Royal Air Force started a rumor that if the gunners started eating excessive amounts of carrots, it will give them gunner night vision. This ruse was carried out to not let the Germans be aware of RAF’s newest radar technology that they used to shot down German bombers on their night raids.
Germans stupidly fell for this ploy and it was later reported that the German Fighter Jet pilots started eating large amounts of carrots.
F-35 Lightning II; A Costly Project:-
It is reported that the entire F-35 Lightning II program cost 7 times the total amount of the entire International Space Station.
North American P-51 Mustang; Held the Fort:-
During World War II, a single North American P-51 Mustang held on its own to stop nearly 30 German fighter jets from attacking a squadron of B-17 Bombers for nearly half an hour.
Grumman F-14 Tomcat; Every last one shredded and stored:-
The USAF has shredded and stored away all the parts of their every last Grumman F-14 Tomcat aircraft in a secure storage location. This is done to stop the spare parts of the aircraft from reaching Iran as Iran is still flying the ones that the US sold to them back in the 1970s.
9/11 and the resolve of Pilots:-
Back when the 9/11 terrorist attack happened and both of the twin towers were hit; some fighter jets went airborne without having any live weapons. They did so with a resolve that in order to intercept and stop the terrorist from striking their intended targets, they would need to intercept them and crash into the hijacked aircraft with their fighter jets as they eject at the last moment.
