McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II belongs to a family of single engine aircraft jets that are used for ground attacking. The aircraft belongs to the second generation of aircrafts that do short take off and do vertical landing or simply called STOVL. This STOVL system is designed by Boeing since the nineties.

The Harrier II is actually an advance version of its predecessor model Hawker Siddeley Harrier. Hawker II is used as a light plane for attack or for many other small role aircrafts. They are generally loaded onto aircraft carriers or large sized amphibious assault ships. The aircraft is only supplied to some of the NATO nations like USA, UK Spain and Italy.
