On October 16th, 2018 one of the Ukrainian Air Force’s Su-27 was flying for a training mission near the Ulaniv, Ukraine and crashed. The news of this crash has been announced officially by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to a local newspaper source and a news aggregator in the Russian language, a Ukrainian and an American pilot have died in this accident.

Still, this news has not been cofnie3d by the US Air Force in Europe.

This is what was written on the USAFE’s website about the incident.

“We are aware of a Ukrainian Su-27UB fighter aircraft that crashed in the Khmelnytskyi region during Clear Sky 2018 today. The incident is currently under investigation and do not have any other information to provide at this time.  We will provide more information as soon as it becomes available.”

The news of the website has been now updated as follows.

“We have seen reports claiming a U.S. casualty and can confirm a U.S. service member was involved in this incident. It is currently under investigation and we will continue to provide more information as it becomes available.”

The aircraft involved in the crash is the upgraded Su-27UB1M “70 Blue”, as per inside sources.
