Royal Saudi Air Force; Interesting Images of the Saudi F-15S Strike Eagle with DB-110 Tactical Reconnaissance Pod leaving for a mission
The aircraft in our post today shows the ‘The Royal Saudi Air Force’s’ F-15S which belongs to the 92nd Sqn/3rd Flying Wing. The aircraft took off from the King Abdulaziz Air Force Base under the operation dubbed as “Inherent Resolve” which is led by the US for the anti ISIL campaign in regions of Syria and Yemen. This aircraft is now equipped with Goodrich DB-110 reconnaissance pod.
Saudi Air Force was awarded by ten dual band recce pod for real-time, long range, and high-resolution video imagery reconnaissance missions under the part of 2012 contract between Goodrich and U.S. Air Force. In addition to these pods, RSAF was also awarded with five fixed transportable and mobile ground exploitation stations as well.
DB-110 according to its manufacturer is a dual band 110-inch focal length reconnaissance system. Theis state of the art video imaging system is able to produce shots and videos from a standoff range of about 80+ nautical miles whether day or night.
Theis video imaging system is currently in service for our 14 countries and on the following platforms.
- F-16
- F-15
- P-3
- MQ-9
- Tornado Raptor
While there have been many shots taken for the F-15S along with DB-110 pod but they still need clearance before being released for public viewing.
