JetBlue which is in partnership with the US Customs and Borer Protection announced on 15th November, 2018 that they are going to introduce their first fully integrated Biometric Self Boarding gate.

This new technology is going to be installed at the JetBlue’s boarding gate located at the New York’s JFK (John F. Kennedy) International Airport.

With the incorporation of this new technology, the passengers who are looking to board from the airport’s Terminal 5 for their international destinations will experience faster boarding process.

The gate will have a dual lane with a self boarding biometric gate. The verification for the boarding passenger will be carried out by Facial Recognition technology by a quick photo capture.

JetBlue has successfully conducted the biometric self boarding gate trials across the following airports in USA.

  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
  • New York-JFK International Airport

The program was launched back in 2017 and since then more than 50,000 passengers have participated in trials of this new boarding process on 500 flights across the four cities.

The biometric boarding gate does not require any pre-registration. Customers can simply make it to their way to the aircraft by making a photo match.
