US Air Force confirms the news of the Chinese J-20 spotted at Georgia Air Base to be a mock up used for training by Marine Corps
US Air Force as officially confirmed to the aviation media that the photographs for the Chinese Chengdu J-20 Mighty Dragon at the military Air Base inside the Savannah-Hilton Head Airport, Georgia, US on last Wednesday; December 5th, 2018 is actually a mock up for training for the US Marine Corps.
Col. Emmanuel Haldopoulos, Commander of the Savannah Air Dominance Center wrote in his statement to media, “It is a full scale replica of the aircraft which remained at the Air Dominance Center for a short period in week of 40-6 December. The US Marine Corps is the one who are funding and directing the training objectives of this device.”
Prior to the confirmation of this aircraft to be a mock up from US Air Force, media already had speculations that this J-20 was actually a mock up which Marine Corps was using as a training tool. While some other media sources speculated it to be a prop for the ongoing production of the much anticipated Hollywood movie; “Top Gun: Maverick”.
Now the news of this aircraft to be actually a mock up for training purposes, there are now new questions in the aviation world. One being of particular importance, as to how will US Air Force will use this aircraft in its training operations?
This appearance of the Chinese J-20 Mock Up also suggests that US Army is seriously taking the emergence of aircraft like J-20 and other Chinese military arsenals rather seriously. Many speculate that the increase in both the indigenous and export of the weapons program all across the world primarily coming from China, US is justifiable in its actions to focus on the emerging Chinese Defense Technology.
