On 5th November 2018, an Airbus A330 of the Brussels Airlines was flying between Kinshasa and Brussels; fight number SN359 suffered from an engine failure problem.
The engine of the left side of the aircraft suffered from failure problem when it was cruising at a height of about 40,000 feet and was only one hour away from its touchdown destination at Brussels airport.
The pilot following the protocol continued the aircraft’s journey to the destination on the aircraft’s engine two. The pilot contacted with the control tower and they, as a precaution, also dispatched the firefighters and emergency services waiting for aircraft’s arrival.
According to many of the passenger witnesses, they heard a loud explosion and also saw flames erupting from the left engine of the aircraft. Pilot ascertained the engine failure to passengers and also reassured them of safety. Flight attendants were also helpful as they calmed down the passengers.
