Zhuhai 2018 Airshow; China presents the “Clone” Of Northrop Grumman X-47B Drone
At the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition and Airshow China, in Zhuhai; China presented a new drone model equipped with the latest stealth features. The drone model was unveiled at the Airshow on the booth of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC).
The drone model was hidden under a tarp in the start. When it was unveiled, it showed a striking resemblance to some of the most famous US Air Force’s unmanned aerial systems. At the moment it is not confirmed as if it is a full-scale mockup or a large scale design for an existing or future prototype.
Some observers have made claims that this drone model actually looks like the copy of the Lockheed Martin RQ-170 Sentinel, a stealth drone that was captured by Iran back in 2001 and reverse engineered at Tehran.
Information also circulated on the Chinese Defense forum that 4 days after the drone crash landed in Iran during its spy mission, a total of 17 Chinese experts flew to Iran. The purpose of their visit there was not only to inspect the crashed drone but also to bring back some of the key information back to China about the RQ-170.
Observers have also made statement that after what they saw, the model seems to be in the similar configuration as the X-47B but it also has slender outer wings with less accentuated “cranked Kite” configuration.
As for the front nose gear bay door of this model, this resembles the famous Northrop Grumman stealth aircraft: the B-2 Spirit bomber.
