Yakutia Airlines; Sukhoi Superjet 100-95B main landing gear collapsed after landing at Yakutsk Airport
Today on 10th October 2018, a Sukhoi Superjet 100-95B of the Yakutia Airlines suffered a runway excursion. The reason for this was that the main landing gear of the aircraft got collapsed right after landing on the Yakutsk Airport.
The airline in a statement released said that “at local time 3:20, the flight R3414 headed from Ulan to UDE went off the runway right after making its landing at the Yakutsk Airport.”
The Investigation Committee of Russian following this incident has opened up a criminal case for the Violations of Aviation safety and other major negligence.
According to reports, there were 87 passengers onboard with 7 being children and 5 being the crew members. Passengers were evacuated from the plane with emergency slides. According to more released reports, four passengers have been transferred to the medical center of the airport.
In the Yakutia Airlines fleet of aircraft, it has five Sukhoi Superjet 100-95 aircraft. Two of them are the Long-Range LR. Some sources have revealed that the 1150 meters of the Yakutsk airport’s runway 05R were displaced due to reconstruction. Due to this reconstruction, only runway 23L was available which has a total landing distance of about 2248 meters.
Some of the flights scheduled for landing on the Yakutsk airport were diverted to land on other airports as the Yakutsk Airport is only scheduled currently for departures.
The Investigative Committee of Russia has carried out the following procedures of their investigation.
- inspection of the scene of the accident
- scheduled forensic examinations
- carried out interrogations of witnesses
- other investigative actions
All of the above will assist the investigators to establish the cause for this incident.
