Etihad UAE Airline announced that it’s going to lift the US ban of Laptops
Etihad; UAE Airline announced that it is going to lift the US Laptop ban from its international airport of Abu Dhabi.
Etihad announced the news with further points that it is going to end the US Government’s Laptop ban after implementing new security measures from its hub airport. The new rule has been implemented after the TSA (Transport Security Administration); part of the Department of Homeland Security completed their procedure of observation and verification process. Following this rule, passengers are now eligible for taking electronics onboard from their Etihad flights over to USA.
The “Laptop Ban” was issued by US government in March of 2017 after they deemed it to be used by terrorists for innovative hijacking purposes. US government banned the use of large electronics like e-readers, laptops, tablets and DSLR cameras among other electronic devices to be banned on flights from 10 major countries’ airports which also included Abu Dhabi.
Following this ban, UK also implemented their own variant of this ban thus disallowing six Muslim countries to not have electronic devices on board of plane headed into UK. UAE was not included in this UK ban.
At the moment it is not known if UK is going to follow suit of US and relax the ban by implementing extra security measures just like Abu Dhabi did.
Airlines since the implementation of the US Laptop Ban had been scrambling to make t look logistic as it was imposed on passengers without any prior warning.
TSA recently announced that it is demanding extra screening measures from 280 countries for the electronic devices. These security measures impact 2000 flights a day from all across the globe. TSA claimed that these extra security screening measures would serve as a bid so that ban could not e3xtend. Abu Dhabi was the first airport to comply with this new approval from TSA.
