Air India Express; A Boeing 737-800 on its Take-Off hits runway approach lights and airport perimeter wall

An Air India Express Boeing aircraft; 737-9800 on it take off on October 12th hits the runway approach lights and airport perimeter wall. The aircraft was headed from Tiruchirapalli, India to Dubai when the accident happened. The news has been confirmed by the airline officials.

The pilot in command of the said plane; Captain D. Ganesh Babu told media that despite the incident all the systems of the plane were functioning properly but the plane was ordered to divert back to Mumbai.




After the flightradar24- data was made available to pilot, he still had no clue about the fact at aircraft had caused damage to not only airport infrastructure but also the plane itself until it was traveling high at 36000 feet. The aircraft which took flight at 19:49 local time made its descent to Mumbai airport after 4 hours and 19 minutes of its flight. The plane was already near Oman.

There were 130 passengers and 6 crew members on board of the plane. They were all deplaned safely and fresh beverages were presented to them along with the availability of a new flight with a fresh set of crew.

The cockpit crew; Captain Ganesh Babu and Captain Anurag have both been grounded by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Government of India; pending their investigation.

The airline has also recently released a new statement which states that they have confirmed that aircraft hit the perimeter wall of the airport. What they are unsure about is that if the damage to the wall was made by the debris of the ILS infrastructure or due to aircraft.
