Air France; misfortune for stranded passengers as the replacement aircraft also grounded in Siberia

On 11th November 2018  total of 282 passengers left onboard an Air France aircraft Boeing 777-330ER on a flight from Paris Airport headed towards Shanghai Pudong. However, the flight number AD116 had to be diverted midway towards Siberia after the cabin crew and passengers noticed a bitter odor and light fumes in the cabin.

All of the 282 passengers were taken to stay at the hotels in Siberia whereas a replacement aircraft was sent to resume their flight.

The passengers were supposed to arrive in Songhai Pudong on Monday evening were finally boarded onto the replacement aircraft. Unfortunately, shortly after the boarding process was complete that aircraft also had to be grounded. According to many passengers onboard the reason for this sudden grounding was “Hydraulic Leaking”.

One of the passengers named Serre Manon who is stuck with other 282 passengers currently in Siberia told media that she and all others are not aware as to when they will leave for Shanghai.

To add on top of this misery, passengers were forced to say inside the aircraft from Monday night to Tuesday evening as the Russian authorities did not allow them to leave for the hotels.

One of the passengers tweeted, “Stuck in Irkutsk for two days now, the situation is worrying”.

Air France has currently left another aircraft to recover these stranded passengers from Siberia.
