Heathrow Airport; Runway lighting issues on both runways disrupts air traffic

On the Tuesday morning of November 7th, 2018, one of Europe’s biggest airports; Heathrow Airport suffered from flight disruption. The reason for these flight disruptions as per the Airport officials is the runway lightings problems on both of its runways. Due o this issue several of the flights from their respective airports were forced to a wait. The news has been confirmed by Heathrow Airport officials, “A lighting system technical issue has occurred on airport’s both runways”. They have also warned that the flights may be canceled or delayed in the morning. The airport spokesperson said to media, “We have activated our contingency plans for both runways and they are both currently operational and open. Still, we expect some delays at the airport throughout this morning”. They statement further stated, “We are working as fast as possible to resolve this issue”. Heathrow is one of Europe’s best airports. In 2017 alone, the airport daily averaged in a total of 213668 passengers. Last year a total of 78 million passengers came through Heathrow Airport. Heathrow Airport provides its services to 81 airlines across the globe and 204 destinations for about 85 countries.
